nanoblock Himeji Castle Deluxe version

Himeji Castle is said to be the most beautiful castle in Japan and I was really eager to build this set. This is the deluxe version and it consists of over 2,200 pieces! I specially ordered pink bricks in order to create sakura (cherry blossom) trees, instead of the standard green ones that were included in the set. Now I really need a nice display box with a wooden base...

New nanoblock nanoGauge model railroad!

It seems that Kawada is about to introduce a new collection called nanoGauge. As you can see from the photos, the new collection is going to include train models, as well as functional railroad track!!! I already have twenty nanoblock models and I plan to buy over twenty five more during the next couple of months... and now this? I am definitely getting every single nanoGauge model as soon as they hit the market!

Hacoa Red Urushi USB memory stick

The Urushi Kiku-Karakusa USB memory stick I got last month (earlier post) was the finest Hacoa product I have in my collection... until now. Well, this solid Red Urushi USB memory stick is even better as you can see the beauty οf urushi-oil. It is coated over and over by a craftsman until the surface becomes so smooth and reflective like a mirror!!!

I have to admit that I really love Japanese urushi-oil lacquerware :-)

nanoblock Kumamoto Castle

Yet another nanoblock completed and it fits nicely with the other Japanese landmarks I already have! The only let down has to do with the yellow bricks at the bottom that I feel are not ideal for representing Kumamoto Castle.

nanoblock Steam Locomotive

After three relatively simple Shinkansen models I have made, it was time for something more advanced and challenging! The Steam Locomotive lies on the advanced hobby category and consists of over 800 blocks!!! I have to admit that it was by far the most difficult model I have made and being all black didn't help at all. It is a beautiful model and it's shame that the colour doesn't help to show how complicated it is.
