Today, as it happens once a month, new Hacoa items arrived straight from Japan. I feel very lucky that I was able to get a set that it is available in limited quantity, and it is a collaboration between Hacoa and Ryusen Hamono. I opted for the Hacoa Asymmetry Case SAYA Round, as a square one is also available, and mine is made out of cherry wood! Three types of wood are available, including walnut and purpleheart.
The case itself is just stunning!!! The finish is simply superb and you can immediately appreciate the unparalleled craftsmanship involved!
The Ryusen Hamono Asymmetry SK01 steak knife is... a work of art!!! It is handmade (!), very light, and as you would imagine, sharp. You just need to pull it lightly in order to cut, thus not destroying the food.

The finishing touch? The two Thanks Magnet that were included, a very nice one out of magnolia wood, and a special one for Father’s Day out of cherry :-)
Hi,
ReplyDeleteHow did you get that steak knife?
I bought from Hacoa directly. It was a limited run (Hacoa Asymmetry Case SAYA + Ryusen Hamono Asymmetry knife) and I am not so sure if they are still available. Of course, Ryusen Hamono still produces the specific knife, but I don't know where to buy it from.
ReplyDeleteIn The Hague (netherlands) happens to be a retailer who sells Ryusen-Hamono knives. He managed to get me one. Only downside is that it didn't come in that beautiful case of course. Steak looks better cut with that knife.
DeleteLuckily a retailer in the Netherlands carried the Ryusen-Hamono brand and I was able to get one through him.
